Vision Technician Paige’s Visian ICL Story
It’s been a little over three years since FSN Eye’s own technician Paige restored her sight with Visian ICL, an implantable collamer lens designed to correct distance vision.
No More Glasses and Contacts!
“I couldn’t find my glasses and I didn’t have any contacts but I had to drive to work,” Paige said. “I realized I was too dependent on them [glasses and contacts] and decided I needed this surgery.”
Paige wore glasses for over 20 years and they dictated her life. She couldn’t put on makeup, take a shower, or even read an alarm clock without them. Contacts were worse. They dried out and irritated her eyes.
“I knew this procedure was for me when Dr. Swale explained that it was reversible,” Paige said.
Why Visian ICL and Not Lasik
Visian ICL is designed to be permanent but is removable. When cataract surgery becomes necessary the lens can be replaced. Paige feared her large prescription would affect her results and was pleasantly surprised.
“I couldn’t believe it! When I got home I took a nap and when I woke up my vision was even better than it initially was,” Paige explained.
Paige’s vision was a perfect 20/20 and has stayed that way for three years. There were so many benefits to getting the surgery but an unexpected one came from experiencing what it was like to sit in the exam room chair.
“When patients ask about [LASIK alternative] surgery I can explain exactly what I went through,” Paige said. “I can empathize with their fears.”
When Paige isn’t helping our doctors restore vision she’s outdoors hiking, camping, or enjoying a good book on her patio. Which she can do with only a pair of sunglasses now.
“I want to say thank you to Dr. Swale for giving me the opportunity to have this procedure. It’s amazing how he seems to understand and how he wants to help people see their best!”
