What happens to the eyes as we age?

After you pass the milestone age of 40, the lens inside the eye begins to lose its ability to change shape – a process called presbyopia — the natural deterioration of near vision caused by loss of flexibility in the eye’s lens as one ages.
A good and simple treatment for presbyopia is reading glasses. Other patients may opt for Clear Lens Exchange–laser-assisted surgery that replaces your eye’s clear natural lens with an artificial lens to correct your distance and near vision, reducing your need for reading glasses or bifocals.
